Swathi Thirunal College of Music - Music College in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. He was transferred in 1939. It was first called the "Academy of Music. Name was renamed the Swathi Thirunal College of Music in 1962. The founder of this institution was the last reigning king of Travancore, Sree Thirunal Balarama Varma Kythira in 1939. Administration of the institution under the control of the royal family of Travancore earlier. Eminent musicians as Muthiah Bhagavathar, who was the first  Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, party, etc. served as members of the college.
The main purpose of this enterprise was to popularize kritits of Sree Swathi Thirunal Maharaja. This institute, since its inception has produced many talented artists who have contributed much to the realm of Carnatic music.
In 1962, the Institute was renamed Sri Swathi Thirunal College of Music. Located in the heart of the capital, the Institute is one of the most prestigious and well-managed institutions of music of South India.
Earlier, a three-year certificate course in music- «Gayaka and Gayika» for males and females, respectively, was presented at the Institute. In 1961, the Committee, which included prominent musicians and music to teach Mrs. Lekshmi Nair, Sri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer M., Dr. Musuri Subrahmanya Iyer and Prof. p. Sambamurthy, established by the Government of Kerala has prepared a comprehensive training program and course curriculum in this institution. Later «Ganabhooshanam and Ganapraveen», (four years of diploma) were introduced. College of the University of Kerala was connected in 1999 and a bachelor's degree in a unique "Performing Arts" was launched course.
Currently, the College entered into a new direction by announcing 8 new courses as part of continuing education programs. Exchange means for those who have the ability to teach music, those who would like to go on cutting-edge research in the group KRITIS, ragamalikas ragam-tanam and pallavis- and for those who are interested in "the direction of the music."
Prominent leaders and college students
Late Dr. l. Muttayyah Bhagavathar was the founding director of the institution revered music. He was replaced by the great Carnatic music doyen, the late Shri. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer p. Late Balasubrahmaniam Chalakkudy Narayana Swami used. city, late, late, there Velukkutty Nair, there Prabhakara Varma, late late Vechur Hari Hara was born Subrahmania Iyer also served as the heads of this prominent organization. K. Vasantha Kumar is currently the Director of the Institute.
Dr. K.J., Neyyatinkara Vasudevan, Dr. k. Omanakutty, Pudukkode Krishna Murthy, m. Was Radhakrishnan, Raveendaran (musical director) and Eneth Parassala has some of the most outstanding students of the Institute. New talents as Kallara Gopan and Panthalam B were also products of this college.
