St. Thomas College of Teacher Education, was established in the fall of 1957 as one of the original institutions in the field of teacher training. The Institute has been accredited by NAAC with 4 star level in 2000. This is the first teacher education institution for the extension to the + class, NAAC (National Evaluation and Accreditation Council of 2007) with a score of 92 institutinal in Kerala.
The Institute was assigned the status of a national commission for minorities minority schools in 2010, our college is quite uncompromising in providing students with the best amenities. Our growth in learning and commitment to the particular enterprise of our teachers and administrative staff. Many of our teachers are often invited to lecture and acted as consultants to many academic and community-oriented programs.
The college was started to meet the exact needs, ie, to train teachers for secondary & higher secondary schools in our country. This idea was conceived and made by the then Bishop of the Diocese of Palai, his Excellency the Right Honourable Rev. Dr. Sebastian Vayalil, founder & first patron of our establishment in reality. From 1981 to 2004, his Excellency the Right Honourable Reverend Dr.Joseph Pallickaparampil was our patron. His Excellency the Right Honourable Reverend Dr. Joseph Kallarangattu is our real cartridge. His Excellency March Jocob Muricken is the current head of the college. The College offers the first, M.Ed. and initial teacher training courses.
This establishment is owned and operated Catholic Diocese Palai and is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
