St. Agnes PU College is a minority institution, established primarily for the education of Catholic women. Original college was started Apostolic Carmel Sisters in 1920. This is the first Catholic women's college in South India and the second in the country.
St. Agnes PU College was bifurcated from St. Agnes first grade college in 2001. The college now has a separate building, which was opened on 14 December 2004.
Pu stands for 'pre-university'. The varieties offered at the school is '1 PU' and '2nd PU' respectively.
St. Agnes PU College is located in Mangalore in the Indian state of Karnataka. This in Bendore, home to the city tribune. It is near the church of St. Sebastian.
St. Agnes first grade college was started by the Apostolic Carmel sisters. Congregation of the Apostolic Carmel, founded by Mother Veronica passions (1823-1906) in Bayonne, France in 1858 and was set up in Mangalore in 1870.
In 2001, by order of the Government of Karnataka, then the existing St Agnes College had to be divided into St. Agnes pre-university and degree colleges. He called overhaul of personnel, facilities and space. Thus, the decision to build a new building was taken and executed. Students moved into a new unit in the 2004-2005 school year.
