Deshbandhu College (evening), now called Ramanujan College was established in 1958 by the Ministry of Rehabilitation, Government of India, in the memory of late. Lala Deshbandhu Gupta, a patriot who dedicated his life to the struggle for national freedom. Initially, the Ministry of Rehabilitation and education as men's college, it was supported by the University of Delhi since 1972. In 1994, he also opened its doors to female students.
Deshbandhu College (Evening), now known as Ramanujan College became an independent entity and will have a new campus in 7 acres of land in Kalkaji, New Delhi. New College, University of Delhi will support the college is fully funded by UGC. College came into existence in July 2010, after the capture of assets, liabilities and employees once Deshbandhu College (evening).
Srinivasa Ramanujan Ayangara (December 22, 1887-26 April 1920) - Indian mathematician and autodidact who, with almost no formal training in pure mathematics, made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series and continued fractions, which in the course of their short life amounted to almost 3900 math results yourself. Ramanujan is considered one of the world's greatest ever mathematician who worked mainly in analytic number theory and is known for many summation formulas with constants as TT, prime numbers and the partition function. In 1997 Ramanujan Journal was launched to publish work "in areas of mathematics influenced by Ramanujan."
Ramanujan College is located in Kalkaji in South Delhi, courses in mathematics, computer science, economics, statistics, psychology, commerce and humanities. It is the third largest college of commerce education at the University of Delhi. It has a highly qualified and experienced teachers, many of whom are also involved in the post graduated studies at the university. Some of our teachers have published original research and creative work in the well-known national and international journals.
The College has a well stocked library with over 55,000 books, including the recent publication of all subjects thought in college. Together with the state of - the art computer lab offers students access to new horizons of learning.
Worthy students are offered a number of academic awards and scholarships. Financial assistance, in the form of payment of the concession is given a worthy and needy students.
Our large playground and good facilities for sports helped keep the tradition of excellence in the sport. Our athletes have won various prizes at the university, Delhi state and national levels.
The campus is a bustling center of both academic and co-curricular activities, which are designed to promote all-round development of students. In addition to the annual festival of Josh, we also have other cultural programs, workshops, seminars, discussions, lectures and educational trips. So honored college theater group Jazba, our units of the NSS and Eco Club also offer students an additional opportunity to expand their horizons.
Our college placement cell, together with the University of Delhi central placement cell, promotes campus student recruitment.
