Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina, whose full name in Spanish - Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina 'Santa María de los Buenos Aires ", also known as the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) - University of Argentina with campuses in the cities of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Rosario, Paraná, Mendoza and Pergamyn. The main campus is located in Puerto Madero, one of the most modern areas of Buenos Aires.
It is considered, according to a study in 2011 by the Spanish Ministry of Education as one of the best private universities in Latin America. This is the second university preferred Argentine employers and sixth in all of Latin America.
Its predecessor, the Catholic University of Buenos Aires (1910 - 1922) was founded by the Argentine Episcopate in 1910, but their degrees in law, were not recognized by the government of Argentina, and in 1922 the institute was closed.
In 1955, the 6403 decree on freedom of education allowed the establishment of private universities with the authority to grant academic qualifications. In 1956, the bishops decided to create the Catholic University of Argentina, officially founded on 7 March 1958.
Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was UCA Grand Chancellor, the power of his office as the leader of Argentina and the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, before his election as pope in 2013 to succeed Honorable Francis Pope Benedict XVI. When Paulie Mario Aurelio was named archbishop of Buenos Aires dad Francis later in 2013, he became the Grand Chancellor of the University. In May 2013 the pope named Francis Victor Manuel Fernández, President of the University (the second largest administrative rank, after the Grand Chancellor), as Titular Archbishop Tiburnia.
