Rajya Sabha has been informed government approves setting up of an All India Institute of Ayurveda, the first ever reference-cum-teaching facility in the world's oldest health care, in New Delhi. The establishment of the All India Institute of Ayurveda at Sarita Vihar in New Delhi is approved by the Government and the Department considered one apex institute of Ayurveda with a 200-bed referral hospital for imparting education in the field of Ayurveda MD and Ph.D, Prime Minister, Ayush Shripad Yezo Naik stated a written record. He says civil engineering and procurement of medical equipment and furniture are in steady stages of completion.
Moreover proposed institutes to come up on the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) can be defined in different cities. Responding to another question, the minister stated that the government is in the process of establishing a North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy in Shillong. "Day 52 universities, including deemed universities in the country offer courses in homeopathy. Homeopathic doctors available in the country is 2,79,518 as January 2014," said Naik. Also mentioned in the statement was that in Gujarat 17 homeopathic medical schools offer courses in homeopathy under affiliation from six universities and in West Bengal, 12 homeopathic medical schools offer courses in the subject.
The state has constituted a "Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Committee" which is responsible for the making of homeopathic pharmacopoeia in India.
