No students to be detained till class VIII, says new education policy

Although some states have expressed concern about the policy of non-stop up to class VIII controversy, saying it has led to a sharp fall academic exercise, education minister of Madhya Pradesh Paracas Chander Jain, at a meeting of Ministers of education and state secretaries on automatic promotion argued that class has led to a situation where a student fails either to class VIII and neither has promoted after that.

At the meeting chaired by the Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani, Jain stated that automatic promotion has brought class to class VIII under the policy sharp fall in the academic year and students are unable to cope with exams in the upper classes failing in the process .

The political controversy came into force with the enactment of the RTE Act providing students get promoted to class VIII without taking into account the academic year.

Other states including Chhattisgarh, Assam, Nagaland and Rajasthan have expressed similar concerns are recognized as the reform of the examination system of the school is one of the popular topics for consultations on the new education policy. Talking to reporters, Secretary of school education Vrinda Sarup stopped a question about the government's stance on the issue, saying the focus groups are collecting views that may be complementary or different from that issue. "Essentially, everyone is talking about the quality of education. It is a structured discussion, does not mean that it should be returned. Quality has ample dimensions, "said Sarup.
