PATNA: with an eye on the coming Assembly elections in Bihar, the Government on Monday decided to provide grants in aid-609 more madrassas throughout the State.
A notification is issued by the Department of education said that these 609 madrassas were chosen from a list of registered 2459 Bihar Madrasah Education Council. "All the teachers and staff on posts authorized in these madrassas 609 will have the right to receive wages with effect from September 1, 2015," said the notice.
"Teachers ' salaries and employees will be paid through the Council's grants of Madrasah-provided by public authorities. Finance Department authorized this, "the notice reads.
Most of these are in the madrassah 609 areas such as Araria, Darbhanga, East Champaran and West Champaran, Kishanganj, Katihar, Madhubani, Purnia, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Sivan, Samastipur and Banka.
Formerly 27 August, hundreds of instructors staged a protest March here against the non-payment of their contributions over the past two years. Association functionaries Bihar Madrasah teachers headed by agitation then claimed that CM Nitish Kumar paid no attention to their demands for the payment of wages. Patna police resorted to Baton charge to disperse the mixing of teachers.
The Association said then that despite the allocation of 120 crore from the Government, the teachers only 205 madrassas pay salaries for the past two years.
