The geographical jurisdiction of the North Gujarat University includes four districts-Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha and Sabarkantha. Each of the four has its own distinctive heritage. Geographically part of the overall scope of a desert Kutchh, north-east side, in the rocky areas of tribal forest. Region's economy is primarily agricultural products. There are some towns here and no big city. The rest of the population lives in villages. Oh specific cultural and educational needs of the area, catering to North Gujarat University was established by regulation. 5 adopted in 1986 17/05/1986 North Gujarat University Act No.22 of 1986 which later on was by the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat dated 09.11.86. The University is growing and growing since then and is functioning.
Patan Patan district, was selected to head a university town. In the sense of place can not be underestimated. It was the capital of a great empire for centuries under the Solanki rulers and a very important seat of Jain scholarship spread beyond the bounds of Gujarat today. The Holy Land is a great thinker who Hemchandracharya grammar, literature, religion and philosophy have made valuable contributions to the study.
