Delhi District courts extend strike till 15 days [in an attempt to set a new record?]
Delhi lawyers strike that started last week in protest at the delay in the passage of the amended Bill to raise moral jurisdiction of district courts, was on Friday extended until 6 May.
"The delegation of Jurists met Interior Minister Rajnath Singh, who assured that the Bill will be cleansed in the ongoing session of Parliament," said RK Vadhva, Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of the Association of the bar of the district courts in Delhi.
After it, the lawyers postponed a rally planned for May 1, outside the Parliament building.
The Coordination Committee said that, despite the assurances, the Government has not cleared the proposed bill increase moral jurisdiction to Rs. 2 crores.
Judicial work in six municipal courts-Tis Hazari, House of Patiala, Rohini, Karkardooma, Saket and akravD-was paralyzed from 22 April.
