Starting next month, organizes the central board of secondary education (CBSE) a competition called cryptic Crossword Contest 2014 for students of classes IX to XII. The main purpose of the competition is to help students improve analytical thinking, analytical skills, vocabulary and reasoning. The city round of competition, held across the country, will kick start in Ranchi on July 16, 2014 For CBSE students in Chandigarh, the date has been fixed on 6th September. As board circular, the affiliated schools are city and near to take part in the competition.
At the city level, each team must consist of two students solve a written cryptic crossword in duration of 30 minutes. The winner and second place teams will be awarded with prizes and certificates will also move to the quarter-final round held in the city of Delhi from December. In the quarter-final round, the selected teams from having to write a cryptic crossword puzzle to be solved in 30 minutes. From this level is eight highest ranked team with eight teams from CBSE region advance to the semifinals. In this round, placed 16 qualified teams into four groups of four teams each. The teams will participate in four separate stage cryptic crossword competition by 60 minutes. The round will be purely based on a PowerPoint format. The winning team at the national level receive a cash prize of INR 25,000 trophies and certificates. Second place will be awarded a cash prize of 15,000 INR, while the price of patches for securing third and fourth has been fixed at INR 10,000.
