This University was carved out of the University of Gujarat. On the bifurcation of North Gujarat University inherited no physical assets from its parent university.
Patan, a historic town in the northern part of the state of Gujarat, was officially appointed to the headquarters of the University. City happens to have composite campus four Associate Colleges. Managing the College Board was kind enough to allow the infant University rent its buildings two dormitories for its offices. Thus, the university began to work and serve 41 colleges scattered across three counties Banaskanta, Mehsana and Sabarkantha.
With two hostel buildings rented University Gandhi Memorial Hall for their library. The aim was to start building a core library for future graduate students. University moved at the same time the state government to acquire land area of about 185 acres (0.75 km2) from farmers. It also requested the state government to transfer his seed farm land area of about 35 acres (140,000 m2) in the university. However, this entails a significant delay due to legal proceedings in the High Court of the state, and then to the Supreme Court.
After the Supreme Court's decision has been made possible the acquisition of land. As a result, over the years, the university was able to get the land as follows:
Government land 35.00 acres (141,600 m2)
Land acquired from farmers 177.50 acres (0.7183 km2). At the time, the university will become a land area of 7.50 acres (30,400 m2) of a farmer.
Total land = 212.50 acres (0.8600 km2).
In addition the University has received property worth Rs.10 lakhs donated Gramodhyog Mandal, Patan. Currently, the employment office of the University is located in this building. Offers in the state government for further assistance in the implementation of plans for more designs, step by step, are under active consideration.
In order to meet the needs of culture and education area, North Gujarat University was established by Decree number 5 of 1986, dated 17 May 1986, which was later adopted as the North Gujarat University Act №22 1986 September 11, 1986 the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat. Functioning, growing and expanding continuously University since then.
